What’s My “Why?”

For the sake of transparency, I’d like to be clear about my intentions for this blog. First, please know that I’m not trying to sell you anything—that is never my intent. I simply want to share my experiences in the hopes that they may help someone else succeed. I view this website as a stewardship opportunity to use what I’ve learned to help others.

About once or twice a week, someone approaches me to discuss rental property or real estate and how they might get started. My hope is that I can point them to this blog, one that contains all my thoughts, suggestions, tools, and insights in a 24/7, scalable format. Even if someone is working at midnight to put together a deal, I want them to be able to refer to this website as needed and learn from my experiences. As this blog develops, I hope to also include case studies and personal stories in an effort to give others improved results in their own real estate and investment endeavors. Trust me, I’ve made plenty of mistakes in the past 15+ years, and if I can help you avoid the same pitfalls and potholes, I’ll be more than happy.

At the heartbeat of this blog is my desire to help others escape the rat race and generate their own wealth for the sake of their family legacy. Growing up in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia, 90% of my family’s conversations about money was the lack of it. My family struggled to pay the bills, so I want you to know that I’m not a trust fund baby. My own entrance into the world of real estate investment has been a modest, bootstrapped adventure, but we’ve been lucky to grow incrementally and find success. I know what it’s like to struggle in this process, but I also know the incredible benefits of generating wealth (having more than what you need) in a healthy way, and I believe you can experience the same benefits in your own journey.

As you explore this blog, I hope you also become aware of the many opportunities you are afforded as an American. Personally, I believe in American exceptionalism. I don’t think that means we’re better than other countries, but rather that we have unique differences. Being exceptional doesn’t mean that we’re above any other people group—every group is exceptional in some way—but it does mean that we have resources and opportunities that we need to steward well and be thankful for. The problem is, you can’t steward these resources well if you don’t know about them, so I hope this blog opens your eyes to the path of wealth generation you have access to. It is possible for you to find success, and I genuinely want to help you do so!
